The Hartford Civic Center will always feel like “the Civic Center” to generations who grew up with it—a big concrete living room in the middle of downtown Hartford where everything seemed to happen at once. Even with new names, scoreboards, and renovations, for many people the memories are still of trudging through winter slush to Civic Center Plaza, climbing those steep steps, and feeling the place erupt when a last-second shot or goal went in—Hartford’s own little big-league arena.
