Cerretani’s Supermarket was once a beloved family-run chain rooted deeply in the north shore towns of Massachusetts—especially Melrose, Reading, and Revere. Founded by the Cerretani family (including John A. Cerretani), the stores were fixtures in their neighborhoods, known for friendly service, everyday low prices, and a sense of hometown pride. In Revere, Cerretani’s opened in 1967 and stood for decades as a local gathering place until it eventually became a Shaw’s and the property later gave way to redevelopment. Though the stores are gone now, many locals still look back on wandering the aisles with nostalgia—memories of scents, sights, and small interactions, with Cerretani’s holding a firm place in the stories of community life in Melrose, Reading, and Revere.
